Starting from Menton itself, you can enjoy numerous easy-access hiking trails. And their accessibility does not diminish their appeal. For example, the Sentier des Douaniers trail allows you to walk along the coast between Menton and Monaco, passing through Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. You will have the opportunity to admire the Villa Cypris, the cabin designed by architect Le Corbusier, and the hilltop castle of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. This hike is a must-do and can be started directly from the Royal Westminster Hotel.

If you're looking for a bit more of a challenge, try the Cabanelles circuit. With a length of 9.3 kilometers and an elevation gain of over 750 meters, this 5-hour hike will undoubtedly leave you tired but happy. The summit of Galian, rising to over 1,100 meters, is the pinnacle of this excursion. It offers breathtaking views of the Menton and Nice hinterland. A real treat for the eyes and a great way to get some fresh air in nature during a weekend in Menton.

The easier hike to Sainte-Agnès Castle takes you to one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the region. At an altitude of 800 meters and listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, Sainte-Agnès is the highest Mediterranean coastal village in Europe. During your travels, you will explore its narrow streets and visit the ruins of its castle before descending the zigzagging path of the Col de l'Olive.
Roya-Bévéra, the call of the mid-mountains
North of Menton, the Roya and Bévéra valleys offer all the charms of the mid-mountains. Numerous trails crisscross the slopes, between oak forests and sunny hillsides covered with lavender, thyme, and broom. From Sospel, an easy loop leads to the Col de Brouis: a few hours of gentle walking through the scents of the garrigue, with unobstructed views of the first Alpine peaks. Higher up, starting from La Brigue, the trail to the Notre-Dame des Fontaines chapel offers a peaceful route to one of the painted treasures of the 15th century.
